
BRIEF BIOGRAPHY
The Caribbean Confederation of Credit Unions (CCCU) extends its heartfelt gratitude to Melvin Edwards for his outstanding service and the inspiration his legacy provides the CCCU. A former President of the CCCU from 1995 to 1999, Melvin was the first Caribbean representative to become Chairman of the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU). In 2013, he received WOCCU’s Distinguished Service Award for his international contributions to the credit union movement.
With over 35 years of dedication, Melvin has significantly influenced the growth of credit unions, micro, small, and medium enterprises, globally and provided support to organizations across more than 20 Caribbean countries.
Originating from St. Kitts &Nevis, Melvin is recognized as an exceptional International Caribbean Credit Union Development Educator (ICUDE). He founded and directs the innovative CaribDE program that promotes educational initiatives for credit union professionals and enhances the leadership skills essential for success in the sector.
The CCCU is grateful for his efforts and honours his significant impact on the credit union sector.
