Greetings, my name is Maurice Mason and I’m currently a member of the City of Bridgetown Cooperative Credit Union which is located in the beautiful island of Barbados. If I can use three words to describe my time at the CCCU Convention, those words would be informative, inspirational and solidarity. This is my fourth time attending the CCCU Convention. However, it was my first time seeing and attending the Youth Summit in this form.

Though the general sessions at the convention were very educational and thought-provoking, I felt more connected and inspired by the learning sessions and activities that were held by the Youth Summit. There was a sense of camaraderie amongst us as we shared the challenges we faced and how we can overcome them as young professionals within the Credit Union system, ways we can be better leaders and how to rise to the occasion within our organizations, and how to stay positive as well as motivated in today’s society. Sarah and Ari did an excellent job of tailoring the Youth Summit speakers and its activities for its targeted audience. The Summit kept us engaged and highly motivated. It gave me the drive to do more for my credit union and to encourage the young people in my country to join the credit union movement.
I would like to thank the CCCU, Sarah and Ari for giving me the opportunity to lead the social scavenger hunt and to assist with the youth summit. I am looking forward to attending another youth summit to learn and to contribute wherever I can.
